MSNBC.com has just released notice that the Italian Court did convict Amanda Knox of murdering her British Roommate. There are not many details avalibale at this time, but they did sentence her to 26 years in jail. No word yet about her codefendant. I did also read that there was a third man charged with this murder who was already convicted and is currently appealing his charges. When I have more time I will update you on all of the new information I have found on this case! Stay tuned!

The Meredith Kercher Trial Draws To A Close

PERUGIA, ITALY - DECEMBER 3: Defendant Amanda Knox looks on during the closing arguments of the Meredith Kercher murder trial on December 3, 2009 in of...

Well according to a Newsweek article that I read today, it seems as though I have been living under a rock for the last two years. Today was my first time of ever hearing about ‘Foxy Knoxy’ a 22-year-old female who is on trial in Italy for murdering and sexually assaulting her British roommate.

The article that I read on Newsweek, “Guilty Until Proven Guilty” mainly touched on the subject of media attention that Amanda Knox has got throughout the investigation and trial of Meredith Kercher’s sexual assault and murder. She has got quite a bit or media attention in Italy, United Kingdom and the United States. According to Newsweek it seems as though the reports on her typically vary between her being a cold-blooded murderer and her being the perfect angel. The one thing that really shocked me about this article was it explained that in Italy the jurors are not sequestered so they are able to read anything online about her and the trial. They can also read newspapers and watch the news. I wonder how the citizens of Italy will interpret everything they see and read. Will she be found innocent or guilty?

I plan to try to research more into this incident, because it did mention very briefly that she has a codefendant. The other accused murder was only mentioned as a side note so I am not sure what roles they are saying each person played in the murder of Kercher. Have you heard about this trial before? Do you think that she is guilty or that she is innocent?

In the small amount of details this article had about Amanda I would have to say that she does not do a whole lot to make herself look like an innocent girl being framed or wrongly accused. It stated that she poses for the cameras when entering the courtroom. It also mentioned that she wears clothes that most would find inappropriate for a young woman on trial for murder. It sounds to me like she is milking the 15 minutes of fame. There is also rumors of her getting her own very high paying book deal, and others writing books about her as well as looking to make movies about her. It sounds like either way the jury goes she will be able to milk this fame for a while longer.
